Are you coming to the party?
My Fellow Americans,
I hope this message finds you well......with the economy in the crapper, commodities prices on the rise, a lack of sufficient health care and skyrocketing costs, empty retirement funds, record high unemployment levels, corporate cutbacks, and an over all feeling of hopelessness and desperation in society.
But wait, there's good news! We're having a party for all of us and the new President. Don't feel like you need to bring a side dish, as we are already dishing out over $160 million of our money on the festivities.
Can you believe this crap? We have to pay $160 million for our new leader to have a party celebrating himself. This is ridiculous. This is the same gentleman that supposedly lashed out at the CEO's and corporations for their greed and "corporate sins".
This is a horrible start for someone who is supposed to turn our nation around and be the "CHANGE" in Washington. He has definitely changed something already. His spending on this party is over 3 times what prior Presidents Bush and Clinton spent on their inauguration festivities.
I don't know about about you, but I can think of a lot of better things to spend the money on. As American taxpayers, I think we are entitled to a breakdown of the costs of the event.
Whose pocketbooks do you think are getting lined from this event?
By the way, did you know that the government earmarks $49 million for the inauguration. I enjoyed the recent comment from a spokeswoman for the joint congressional committee on inaugural ceremonies. It went like this, "We are always very budget conscious. But we are sending a message to the entire world about our peaceful transition of power, and you do not want it to look like a schlock affair. It needs to be appropriate to the magnitude of events that it is." Well, I don't know about you, but after hearing that comment, I feel a lot better about spending $160 million on the event. If the government would have just mentioned up front that they were being "budget conscious" then I would never have went on this rant.
