The Final Stairway is Almost Done!

The hardwood on the final stairway is almost finished.  There was a slight delay because we ran out of bull nose tread pieces.  They've been ordered and should be in shortly.
For anyone wanting to put hardwood on stairs, here is a quick breakdown of what I did....first, I put a trim board on the side of the stairs set at a height that woudl cover the tops of the treads and risers on the side. You can see the white 1"x8" trim board on the sides in these pics.  I used the top grade pine so it would wouldn't show any knots or imperfections.  They are expensive boards, but they look great once they are up.
Next, I cut the tread and riser boards to length so that they fit snug against the side trim.  You can't get the floor staple gun in far enough to secure the boards, so you will have to use a subfloor adhesive (I like the PL 400 subfloor adhesive shown above) in combination with brad nails to fasten the floor down.  The adhesive will eliminate movement in the floor and get rid of most of the squeaks too.
Here is the final product.
