"Rape Choke"

For those of you who wondered about why Joe Rogan wasn't commentating last week in Canada, I have two words ---- "Marijuana" and "Rape Choke". Okay, maybe that's three words.

Rogan said that he had a prior arrangement and couldn't make the Canadian fights, but there are two stories circulating: 1) that he couldn't go to Canada due to prior problems there (possession of marijuana), and 2) that the UFC punished him because of his remark at the last fight broadcast about one of the fighters using what he called a "Rape Choke". Is that a new move?

Denny, wanted to chime in on the issue of the "Rape Choke" and George St. Pierre (GSP) in his post fight interview. Here is the dialogue of GSP's interview (slightly modified):

Reporter: "GSP whats your favorite submission?"
GSP: "The choke"
Reporter: "Any specific choke"
GSP: "Next question"
Reporter: "Can you demonstrate a choke for us?"
GSP: "Not on TV"
Reporter: "Is that some kind of contract deal?"
GSP: "No, Dana White said it would be best if I kept it a secret, it is not really accepted in the MMA world right now"
Reporter: "So the move is illegal?"
GSP: "No, but only me and Rampage Jackson currently practice it"
Reporter: "Did you learn this move from Rampage?"
GSP: "No, I taught him everything he knows"
Reporter: "You realize that Rampage was in this game long before you"
GSP: "Being Gay?"
Reporter: "WHAT???"
GSP: "I mean, MMA... sorry, sometimes my french make words sound different"

***The Rape Choke is an informal mixed martial arts slang term used to describe the hand position of a fighter in top position, in which the dominant fighter, most often while in the mount, places one hand, palm outward, over the defensive fighter's throat. It is, however, against most MMA rules to actually "choke" the fighter from this position, and this hold is used more to aim strikes to the head than to actually choke. This term gained attention when Joe Rogan used it on April 2, 2008 during the Matt Hamill vs. Tim Boetsch fight, to describe Hamill's mount position just prior to the finish of the match.
